Cooper discusses the first time he saw a Stokowski performance, in Minneapolis with the Philadelphia Orchestra; the State Department-related project in which Henry Cowell composed Persian Set and Stokowski recorded it for broadcast in Iran; and an exchange of composers between the US and USSR in 1958. He mentions Roy Harris, Peter Mennin, Ulysses Kay, Roger Sessions, and Arnold Schoenberg.
